All conversion happens directly in your browser. No server uploads.
We respect your privacy. No personal data collection or cookies.
Transactions are handled by Creem.io with bank-level security.
We prioritize your privacy above all else. Because HEIC Killer is a local-first application, our data collection practices are minimal:
• Personal Data: We do NOT collect, store, or transmit your images. Your files never leave your device. • Usage Data: We do NOT use cookies to track your personal browsing history. We do not build user profiles. • Contact Info: If you email support, we only use your email address to reply to your inquiry. We do not sell your email to third parties.
Our core technology relies on libheif and WebAssembly to perform image conversion entirely within your browser's secure sandbox.
Type explicitly: Client-Side Only.
This means your files are processed by your own CPU (Central Processing Unit). This architectural decision guarantees that sensitive documents, personal family photos, or proprietary business images remain strictly confidential and under your control at all times.
We limit third-party integration to the absolute minimum required to provide the service:
• Payments (Creem.io): We use Creem.io as our Merchant of Record. When you purchase a Pro license, your payment details are processed securely by them. We do not have access to your full credit card number. • Analytics: We may use simple, privacy-focused anonymized logging (e.g., counting total daily visitors) to ensure site reliability. These logs contain no personal identifiers.
Since we do not upload your files to our servers, we have no data retention policy for your images—because we never have them in the first place.
For support emails, we retain correspondence only as long as necessary to resolve your issue or as required by law.
Your images are processed where you are. If you are in the EU, they stay in the EU (on your computer). If you are in the US, they stay in the US. We do not transfer your image data across borders because we do not transfer it at all.
Although we collect minimal data, we respect your rights under GDPR and CCPA:
• Right to Access: You can ask what data we hold (mostly just license key status). • Right to Erasure: You can request we delete your support emails or license record. • Right to Opt-Out: Since we don't sell data, there is nothing to opt-out of, effectively giving you 'opted-out' status by default.
Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided us with personal info via support, please contact us.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, please contact us at support@heiclocal.com.
To provide its functionality, the HEIC Killer Chrome Extension requires specific permissions. We value transparency and want you to understand exactly why each permission is needed:
• storage: Used locally to save your user preferences (e.g., image quality settings, theme). No personal data is stored. • downloads: This permission is required to save the converted JPG/PNG files directly to your computer's default download folder. • contextMenus: Enables the convenient 'Convert with HEIC Killer' option when you right-click on an image. • notifications: Used optionally to alert you when a large batch conversion job has been successfully completed in the background.
Important: None of these permissions are used to collect, track, or transmit your browsing data.
Yes. Once the website or extension is loaded, you can even disconnect your internet and it will still convert images. This proves that no data is being sent to the cloud.
No. The conversion code runs inside your browser. We have no way to view, intercept, or save your images.
We sell Pro licenses. We believe in a transparent business model: you pay a fair price for a great tool, and we respect your privacy. No hidden agendas.
